Pathways to Progress: Workforce Strategies for Missouri Young Adults
June 24, 2024 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am CDT

Join the St. Louis Fed’s Community Development department to discuss strategies for better connecting Missouri young adults to the workforce.
Hear from community organizations and others from across the state who have deployed successful approaches to addressing many of the challenges that hinder young adults from engaging more fully with the labor market, such as those involving housing, transportation and child care. Speakers will share how they are working together and building partnerships to expand workforce opportunities for Missouri’s young adults.
The event will feature the following speakers:
- Julie Carter, director of Missouri Workforce Development, will discuss the present and future of Missouri’s workforce.
- Neelu Panth, regional outreach manager at the St. Louis Fed, will discuss key findings and trends from the workforce roundtables hosted by the St. Louis Fed in 2023.
- Nicole Summers-Gabr, a senior researcher at the St. Louis Fed, will share data and analysis on labor market outcomes.
Following the presentations, MU Health Care Director of Belonging and Community Impact Nikki Carter will moderate a panel discussion and Q&A session with the following panelists, who will share promising approaches to young adult workforce engagement.
- Elizabeth Shelton, executive director, United Way of Southeast Missouri
- Esther Shin, president and CEO, Urban Strategies Inc.
- Robin Phillips, executive director, Child Care Aware of Missouri
Boxed lunches will be provided after the program.
You will have an opportunity to submit questions for a Q&A session in advance during the registration process. There is no charge to attend this event, but registration by June 17 is required.
